Israel sets deadline for ground offensive in Rafah

Israel has announced a deadline for launching a ground offensive in the city of Rafah in the Gaza Strip. The Israeli Defense Forces have stated that unless a ceasefire agreement is reached with Hamas by midnight tonight, they will begin a ground operation to target militant positions in the area.

The decision to set a deadline for the ground offensive comes after days of escalating violence between Israel and Hamas, with rocket attacks from Gaza and airstrikes from Israel causing multiple casualties on both sides.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has warned that the country will do whatever is necessary to protect its citizens and eliminate the threat posed by Hamas. The deadline for the ground offensive is seen as a final attempt to bring an end to the violence and reach a lasting ceasefire agreement.

The situation in Rafah remains tense as civilians continue to flee the area in anticipation of a potential ground operation by Israeli forces. International leaders have called for an immediate ceasefire and a return to negotiations to end the conflict and prevent further loss of life.
